Escape for a day

The Ourika valley

Carved by a rushing torrent, the Ourika valley stretches between the first foothills of the Atlas mountains. This lush green valley is undoubtedly one of the most well-preserved in Morocco.

After crossing the fertile plains of Haouz, you'll arrive at the village of « Tnin de l’Ourika ». Continuing on, you'll be captivated by the riverbanks of the Oued, where poplar and weeping willow trees generously shade the meadows.

Upon arrival, you'll leave the vehicle and, accompanied by a local guide, embark on a hike to the « Setti Ftma » waterfalls.

With your feet in the water, you’ll enjoy chatting with the locals and savoring a meal, perhaps sharing a tajine, before heading back to Marrakech.

The 3 valleys of the High Atlas

The excursion through the 3 valleys offers a unique opportunity to explore the High Atlas mountains.

Our journey begins in the lush Ourika valley, where you'll visit a traditional local souk. As you continue along the road, taking in the colorful landscapes, you'll arrive at the village of Sti Fadma. From there, a short hike will take you to the beautiful waterfalls before returning to the road.

You'll witness the vibrant patchwork of cultivated fields and the striking contrast of the ochre mountains, reaching up to 2000 meters in altitude. In the village of Sidi Fares, you'll enjoy a delicious homemade tajine at a local's home.

The adventure continues to the Assni valley, known for its souk and picturesque apple and olive orchards, as well as Tahannaout. After a day full of emotions and encounters, you'll return to Marrakech.

The Imlil valley

On the road toward the Atlas mountains, you will arrive at the charming mountain village of Imlil, the starting point for all hikers aiming to climb the 4,167 meters of mount Toubkal, the second-highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro.

After passing through the Asni gorges, a picturesque village known for its souk, the road winds through a lush valley where the mountains play with colors, and traditional Berber villages with mud houses are nestled among terraced fields.

A mountain guide will accompany you on a hike, or, as an option, you can ride a mule to admire the panoramic views.

After the walk, you'll enjoy a traditional berber tajine at a local’s home and have the chance to meet a local family. At the end of the day, you'll return to Marrakech with unforgettable memories.

Essaouira

Essaouira was conquered by the Romans and later by the Portuguese. At the end of the 15th century, the Portuguese built the port of Mogador, now known as Essaouira.

From the terrace of the northern bastion, you’ll have access to the marquetry district. Leaving the « Skala » and following « Derb Laalouj » to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah museum, you'll discover a collection of Gnawa musical instruments, weapons, and traditional costumes.

Next, head north to the Mellah, the old jewish quarter, where you can visit the traditional market that stretches to « Bab Doukkala ». Optionally, a seafood lunch can be arranged at a restaurant with a view of the sea.

On the way back, as you cross argan fields, you’ll have the chance to see goats perched in the trees and visit an argan oil cooperative.

The Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and the High Atlas

Heading towards the High Atlas mountains, you will reach the « Tizi N’Tichka » pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters, where you will be welcomed with a traditional berber breakfast.

Next, in Ouarzazate, you will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, built in the 17th century, often referred to as the jewel of the region.

In the shade of its palm trees, Ouarzazate emerges from a vast, rocky expanse swept by the winds of the Sahara. Here, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas, the surrounding oases, and the mountains that house magnificent architectural remnants.

On the way back to Marrakech, you will visit the famous fortified Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO world heritage site. A delicious lunch will be served at a local restaurant before returning to Marrakech in the evening.

The Ouzoud waterfalls

Passing through « Demnate », you will arrive at the Ouzoud waterfalls, one of the most remarkable natural attractions in the moroccan Atlas. These magnificent waterfalls, often crowned by a near-permanent rainbow, plunge 110 meters into a limestone basin surrounded by lush vegetation.

You’ll have the opportunity to swim at the foot of the falls, which are accessible via a shaded path lined with olive trees. At the top of the falls, near the edge of the impressive chasm, you can find a dozen ancient grain mills, still powered by the rushing water of the torrent.

If you’re lucky, you might spot some of the wild monkeys that roam freely throughout the Atlas.

At the end of the day, you’ll return to Marrakech, with the secret hope of coming back one day to visit the Ouzoud waterfalls again.
